I feel it safe to say (sshh, let's not be too loud) that I have turned a corner in my recovery and rejuvenation, following 6 months of inactivity and (11 lb) cyst removal surgery in January, and although it has felt longer than I expected it to take, and I am still overweight and by no means physically fit, I can now walk 2-5 miles comfortably and without any subsequent aches in the abdomen, and I am gradually increasing the amount of yoga I do as well, in order to help my skeleton re-situate itself in the correct opened up position while my supporting muscles tone up.
It feels like I have just experienced the longest winter in history :)
And I do have a tendency to feel a low background level of dread as Autumn approaches each year, just in case I have a bad winter S.A. D. year. This year I find myself wanting, rather too desperately, to make the most of the longer sunnier days and I know that great feelings do not come from desperation.
I do not want to get swept up in so much activity during the summer months, that I am burnt out and exhausted by Autumn. Nor do I want to spend my summer focusing on getting as fit and toned up as possible before the days shorten, nor do I want to spend it dreading the coming Autumn (due to it heralding winter) which - like many people - I actually adore.
Temperatures do not get so high (for long) in England that it encourages you to slow right down and stay inside, so consequently it is easy for the summer months to be rather frenetic.
So, I have established various practices which help me to sink into my NOW, to slow down, to breathe deeply and to engage my creative flow. You might already have spotted my #SlowSummer sharings on social media.
Care to join me?
Perhaps you do not feel the need to slow down.
Perhaps you wish to use the sunny days to increase your activity levels? Or complete a project?
Perhaps you simply want to focus on cultivating a feeling or two (I'll share mine with my Slow Summer circle).
Whatever it is you need, you are welcome to circle with me and consciously create the season you require / need / deserve.
(Most of my followers are in the northern hemisphere but if you are in the southern hemisphere you are of course welcome too!)
I shall be :
- pausing for three deep breaths
- earthing, grounding and connecting with nature
- stopping to smell the roses (and the fuchsias, peonies, lavender...)
- meditating, practising EFT,
- regularly stepping on to the yoga mat
- cooking, making, creating, painting (just for me and my creative soul, for cARTe postale, and also to finish up lots of goodies for my Summer Art Auction)
- focusing on connection; connecting with me, with my spirituality, with my chi/ki/prana/personal power, with my animal charges, with wildlife and with the natural world around me...
I promise my subscribers no more than one email update per month because I know how overwhelmed we all are these days, and inbox overwhelm just does not need to be added to the onslaught of input.
Consequently my tribe will need to opt in to the additional content (up to September 2019 when the #slowsummer content will cease).
Those on my mailing list simply need hit reply to the July newsletter to tell me they want in.
And those who are not yet on my mailing list may sign up to my monthly newsletter PLUS the Slow Summer content using this link here : :
Sign up to the Slow Summer Circle
I would love for you to join me.
All the Slow Summer prompts and videos and photos and ideas, are free to receive - and in fact you will see some of them on Facebook and Instagram even if you don't sign up - but I am also offering subscribers a discount on my video ecourse 'cARTe postale' for those who fancy adding creativity to their great summer slow down.
We'll be re-purposing cardboard packaging and junk mail and anything we can get our hands on! and we shall be ripping and sticking, painting and scribbling : : turning our Junk Into Joy!
That is of course, a completely optional add-on, but the discount is available to subscribers only so hop on the list if you're interested.
**If you sign up after 15-07-19 and have missed the July love letter (and therefore the link to the discount) then please do drop me an email and I'll send it over to you right away xx
Whether you circle with me or not, I wish you the very summer (/winter) that you desire and that nourishes your soul and body.
Sunday 26th May 2019
10am - 10pm BST
5am - 5pm Eastern
4am - 4pm Central
2am - 2pm Pacific
For those who don’t know, years ago I was inspired by Laura Hollick’s International Soul Art Day and I did a full 24 Hour Paint-a-thon! That was back in 2015.
I created from start to finish, one of my most favourite pieces (up to that point) during that 24 hours; Wisdom Waiting aka Stag Moon.
(the original of which I gifted to a dear healing, soulful artist friend of mine, but which is still available in print in the form of greetings cards which I will include in my upcoming art auction - I have only 9 of these remaining).
A couple of pics from my 24 Hour Paint-a-thon back in 2015 :
It was a total blast.
I created a public group and invited friends to just watch and follow along or to participate, and the Group is still going to this day.
I then moved much more into Mixed Media rather than paint only
and also because of needing to be a responsible pet sitter, doing 24 hour ones just was not feasible and so I renamed the Group “12 Hour Create-a-thon” and I mention it now because I am doing my next one tomorrow.
I shall pop the link to the Group in the comment below just in case you are interested in either following along or actually participating for all or part of the day.
** I am doing a 12 Hour Create-a-thon tomorrow! **
I think I best make my start time 10am so that I have time for breakfast and for transforming my bed into my creation station. :)
So here are the times that I will be over here creating like a fiend!
10am - 10pm BST
5am - 5pm Eastern
4am - 4pm Central
2am - 2pm Pacific
If you’re in another timezone and want to participate or follow along, let me know and I’ll add those times to this list !
I will Live Stream as much as possible so that it feels like we are truly together and not alone in this. xx
My focus will be on completing pieces for my upcoming online ‘Ang’s Auction’ (June 1st) so I will be working on : :
- handmade art journals
- canvases big and small
- possibly another wall hanging or dream catcher as it has been a while...
What do you fancy making progress on? or getting lots more practice hours in with? Maybe there is something else that you would like to blitz - such as a huge decluttering of one room, or organising and filing all of your paperwork!
If there is anything at all which you are finding really hard to drum up motivation on your own, but that you would really like to build momentum on, then this is your chance! You will be supported by me and my tribe virtually and we can cheer one another on when we are flagging - as well as remind one another to take care of ourselves of course : : Pee breaks, hydration, nourishment and walking or dance breaks are just as important as the activity here.
Today I might pop in to the Create-a-thon Group too.
I am creating art process videos for the final two modules of ‘cARTe postale’ which obviously I can’t share with you but I will touch base between recordings, and if I have time, then I will be painting three small 6x6 canvases which I am submitting for the Waseca Art Center fundraising exhibition. So I will share how that is going.
So the question is
Who is game for a Paint-a-thon tomorrow?
Or a Sew-a-thon ?
Choose your activity.
And of course yours can be a three hour one if you like, or whatever feels good for you.
I call every Sunday Soul Care Sunday and I do hope that you are able to join me at some point tomorrow to feed your soul some creative nourishment.
Please feel free to share as many pics and vids as you like in the Create-a-thon group : : this is OUR space for flexing and stretching our creative muscles.
And please invite anyone who you think might enjoy participating or just following the fun.
The 12 Hour Create-a-thon Group is an open group and is the place to join if you want to hear about when the next date is set.
I do rather fancy attempting another 24 Hour one at some point, before the year is out!
Just maybe next week, on International Soul Art Day itself - 5th June - seeing as I am not pet sitting right now and it is no big deal if I am an exhausted mess the next day :o)
So, tomorrow : :
12 Hour Create-a-thon ~ Sunday 26th May 2019
The virtual gathering itself will take place in the Group above.
I will be sharing photos, videos and live streams as much as I possibly can throughout the whole 12 hour period, and I encourage you all to do the same during your own timezone periods.
I have also created a Facebook Event.
This makes it much easier for you to get a reminder yourself ~ click that you are attending, and the event will pop up in your events calendar to remind you about it ~ and it also makes it much easier for you to share with others and to invite friends who might enjoy joining some or part of it.
Just be sure to let everyone know that on the day itself, it is on the Group Page and not the event page where they will find everything!
Well my friends, I do hope to see you tomorrow for a day full of inspiration, motivation, and momentum, but if I know this is really short notice, so if you were unable to make it, all of the photos and videos from the day can be found on the 12 Hour Create-a-thon Group Discussion page, where you will also be the first to hear when I schedule in our next event.
2019 : : In Love
I mean this in every way imaginable.
I know from experience just how interesting committing to a theme, a philosophy, a mantra or a word can be. Life sure has a sense of humour. In years passed I have cursed the wicked and cunning ways it seems to draw what I want out of me. I choose resilience? Then life throws curveball after curveball at me so that I develop an extraordinary amount of resilience. Thanks a bunch!
Be careful what you wish for people! :o)
If I am to stay inside of Love then fear will need to be faced and cleared - constantly / frequently - so I may well be challenged in a multitude of ways this year, and tempted to be sidetracked by fear, anger, frustration, irritation - any and all things that are NOT love. Fear and Love cannot occupy the same space at the same time. They are opposing forces.
I am as prepared as I can be for Great Mystery to bring this concept to life for me and I will endeavour to be brave and to stay my course. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, aka Tapping) will be my friend, and the tool I use daily to clear any and all blocks to Love.
Wish me luck!
As always, I love to hear your theme / mantra / word of the year if you have chosen one as your way of moving consciously through your life and cultivating the kind of life you choose and desire. To do so, scroll just passed my annual themes on the right hand side and you'll see the link for dropping me an email. xxx
We are all lighthouses, shining our lights and, in turn, guiding others Home to their greatness too. Shine Your Light Bright One! xxx
